The only argument that could be made would be with the Wii U and Switch versions but even that is flimsy. Each version of HW is not the same game and no one can honestly say they are. If we don't get one on the system down the line then it's unfortunate that we got this port, because HW sold enough to justify a sequel. From a business standpoint it makes sense, but the ethics of it is off-putting.And this game COULD keep us from getting a Hyrule Warriors 2 on the Switch. It generated more than enough revenue for them already, so a third release is kind of a skeevy thing to do. This is the third release of the same game. But for those of us who love them, that's pretty great news. Warriors games are very divisive, so I totally understand disliking them. It's not like HW on Switch is going to impact any other game getting a port or the development of any Nintendo game. But for now, I think a trophy is the most we can realistically hope for him.I mean, it's not taking any ressources away from Nintendo. 4.Įven so, thanks for the suggestion, Bionichute and Sylveonce! Now maybe, if there was a purely Zelda-themed fighting game (glares piercingly at Namco and Nintendo, re-acknowledging a wish held for nearly 12 years since Soul Calibur II came out), Ravio would be a strong contender. The point is: Ravio is a great character, but there is a lot working against him to be represented in Super Smash Bros. And among the many incarnations of Link, Ravio isn’t even the most likely to be a hypothetical third version of him in Smash (Wolf or Masked Link, anyone?). A character who already has two places on the roster. You can probably guess who Hilda and Yuga are the alternate versions of pretty quickly, but at the end of the game we learn that Ravio is from Lorule as well.Īs for Smash, this means that for all of his charm, Ravio is technically another version of Link. Lorule is a strange, alternate universe version Hyrule, where each character from Hyrule has a doppleganger in Lorule. Here we go, time for spoilers, spoilers, spoilers. Trust me, if you have not finished A Link Between Worlds, then (A) don’t continue to the end of this article until you do, and (B) you should probably play it anyway, it’s seriously the best game on the 3DS right now. There is one more reason why Ravio may not be the best choice for a fighter though, and this is where the BIG SPOILERS come in. This is probably the biggest reason why we probably won’t see Ravio on the roster, though it is still probable that we may see him as a trophy, or even make a cameo if there’s an ALBW-themed stage. In all likelihood, the roster for Smash 4 may have been decided while ALBW was still in the midst of development, or even before Ravio had been fully designed and written. And while it is very recent, it may be too recent. While Ravio is a central character to A Link Between Worlds, it is yet his first and only appearance. Zelda may still have another competitor on the field, but with all of the other possible contenders from the Zelda series he’ll have a tough time standing out against more popular or iconic characters (Midna, Vaati, or Ghirahim, to name a few). Link, Zelda, and Toon Link have already be confirmed, and it’s a safe assumption that Ganondorf and Sheik will return as well. First and foremost, Zelda is a series that is already being strongly represented in Smash. While it is possible to make a case for Ravio, there are several things holding him back. The question of the matter is, would he be considered? While he doesn’t use a sword like Link, just these nine items offer more than enough variety to build a feasible moveset from. Ravio seemingly “aqcuired” these items over the course of his travels they include classics like the bow, bombs, boomerang, hammer, and hookshot, as well four rods controlling fire, ice, sand, and tornadoes. Available from early on, visiting this shop allowed you to rent any of the game’s items for a small fee, or buy them permanently for a much larger fee. One of the major changes that A Link Between Worlds brought to the Zelda formula was Ravio’s item shop. But what are his chances? How would he play out? Let’s talk about it …īe warned: this post WILL contain major spoilers for A Link Between Worlds. As the proprietor of the item shop, he would definitely have access to a large arsenal with which to battle. Ravio certainly is an interesting and fun character from the most recent Zelda game, A Link Between Worlds.
